Leah Gerlach, M.S.,

Ms. Gerlach has a BA from Elmhurst College in Speech and interpersonal communications, a Masters degree from University of Illinois, Champaign in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration. Leah Gerlach has also continued her post graduate study in adaptive technology applications from California State University at Northridge, American Foundation for the Blind. Assistive Technology Institute, and Freedom Scientific. She also holds a Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor, CRCC.

Ms. Gerlach has worked at Spectrios Institute for Low Vision (formerly the Deicke Center) since August of 1986 in a variety of positions. She has served as the manager of a variety of departments. Leah is currently the director of counseling services, and the assistive technology specialist. She has served as the Conference Chair for several Low Vision conferences over the past 15 years. Leah has served on the board for the Illinois Association of Education and Rehabilitation since 1999, serving as Association president, and conference chair for the state conference. She was selected to serve on the Illinois Blind Services Planning Council, and is still a member. Ms. Gerlach was recently chosen one of 12 “Women of Distinction” by Suburban Life Media.
