The Wheaton Lions
Since 1986, the Wheaton Lions have been supporting the Spectrios mission. They have been by our side as we built our new house, actively participated at Seeing is Believing clinics, and were even there to help us recover when our basement flooded!
“For the last 35 years we have supported Spectrios, and want to congratulate them on their growth and wish them the very best for the next 35 years,” says Marty Keller, President of the Wheaton Lions.
We would not be able to provide the services we do without the seemingly limitless support of the Lions! Their generous donations have helped empower thousands of children and adults to continue or resume tasks they once thought impossible due to their vision loss. Thank you Wheaton Lions, for truly making a difference!
About the Wheaton Lions:
Lions International is the largest service club organization in the world with over one million members in over 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries. Founded in Chicago in 1917 to aid the blind and visually impaired, they have since grown to provide service and support in many other areas.
The Wheaton Lions Club, chartered in 1932, has a long history of impacting the community. Vision was the original pillar of service; Lionism now encompasses six pillars of service: sight, hearing, diabetes, pediatric cancer, hunger and the environment.
They hold three fundraising activities every year: 1) Candy Day (the time you notice people on street corners selling Tootsie Rolls). 2) A summer golf outing (on August 19 this year!) 3) The annual Reindeer 5k Run co-sponsored with the Wheaton Park District in the fall.
Joining and supporting the Wheaton Lions Club is a great way to help Spectrios and nearly thirty other deserving organizations in Wheaton. Plus, it’s a great way to share your time and talents with similarly minded citizens. The men and women of your Wheaton Lions Club are proud of what they do and the organizations we support.
