We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development to join our team, drive our fundraising initiatives and manage donor relations. As the Director of Development, you will play a crucial role in obtaining grant funds, securing major gift, and planned giving programs, and coordinating special events to support the life-changing programs and services of Spectrios Institute for Low Vision. Your efforts will directly impact the lives of individuals with visual impairments, offering them hope and opportunities for a better future.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan and budget to support the organization’s strategic goals
  • Manage donor relations, including cultivating relationships with major donors, developing planned giving programs, and overseeing individual giving initiatives
  • Identify and build relationships with new prospective donors to expand the donor base and increase funding opportunities
  • Direct the annual appeal campaign and other fundraising campaigns throughout the year
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events, including the annual gala and golf classic, to engage donors and raise funds
  • Generate innovative ideas and strategies to increase funds and enhance donor loyalty
  • Conduct grant research, write compelling proposals, and ensure accurate tracking and reporting of grants
  • Prepare and send donation acknowledgment letters to recognize and appreciate donor contributions
  • Coordinate and actively participate in bi-monthly Board of Directors meetings, providing updates on fundraising efforts
  • Maintain accurate records of donors and donations in the fundraising database
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other team members to support overall organizational objectives
  • Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years development experience in a non-profit organization
  • Proven track record in donor cultivation
  • Familiarity with grant writing, and coordinating successful special events is desirable
  • Familiarity with Donor Perfect fundraising software is desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
